Before We Start!
Firstly, I’d like to tell you a little bit about Flojo’s Easy Detox because it’s definitely not your typical detox! You won’t be noticing any hunger pangs, labour intensive juicing or expensive bowel-clearing supplements in this plan.
Instead it’s an easy and gentle route to nourishing your body and mind while clearing up some of your lifestyle factors to enable your body’s astonishing capabilities of self-detoxification happen easily and spontaneously.
You’ll be glad to know that I’m not going to give you lots to work on all in one go. Once your cells are encouraged to start kicking out any of the rubbish they don’t want then your liver, kidneys, lungs and intestines will need to have enough energy to actually get that muck out of your body before it starts recirculating. This can take time.
So we are going to focus on something new each week, taking things very, very gradually. I want you to enjoy making these changes one step at a time because if you become overwhelmed by too many changes at once you will become tired, cranky and overwhelmed and you won’t want to continue – and that, my friend, would be a great shame because by the end of these four weeks you are going to both feel and look noticeably better!
If you have a holiday or major event during the four weeks of this course then you may wish to delay starting until afterwards. Let me know if you think this might be the case so that we can decide on the best action before you set out on this detox journey. Stopping half way through and restarting really doesn’t work!
How Does the Course Work?
Each Saturday morning you will get a worksheet, clearly outlining the tweaks and changes I’d like you to incorporate into your daily life for the week ahead.
These worksheets are intended for you, and you alone. Please do not copy them for use by others. However, if you are preparing food for your family there is no reason why you cannot scale up the serving sizes for my recipes to include anyone else you are cooking for. Allergies aside, these recipes should be suitable for pretty much anyone, including children.
I will need you to keep me posted with plenty of feedback and to ask me any questions or tell me about any concerns you may have each week. This course is designed to be both accessible and effective for a wide range of clients but it is rare for anyone not to need some of the content to be adapted to their particular health or lifestyle factors. That’s what I’m here for!
So make a note of any thoughts that crop up over the week because I will need an email from you by every Sunday evening of the course! This email will need to be fairly detailed in order that I can reply to your feedback and, if necessary, tailor some of the recommendations. I will do this each Monday morning in a personal email.
Just to recap…
- Saturday Morning: I send you your worksheet for the week.
- Sunday: You send me your questions and comments.
- Monday Morning: I send you a personal email and you get started!
Please note that if you have any questions that need a more immediate answer you are welcome to email me and I will try to get back to you within 24 hours.
I do ask that all emails are sent as a reply to the most recent message. This helps to keep all of our communication in one thread so that I can easily refer back to prior information pertinent to you!
I don’t provide a fully comprehensive shopping list because I won’t be expecting you to stick to a rigid meal plan. But this linked shopping list covers anything that I think you may not already have in stock or that isn’t easily available from supermarkets. You will find that, as the weeks progress, you will be consuming increased amounts of fresh, unprocessed foods so be prepared to adjust accordingly!
For week one we will only be focussing on the first hour of your day and also on your breakfast choices – for which I will include some easy, nutritious and delicious recipes! You will not need to make any other changes whatsoever! Just carry on with your day as per usual, happy in the knowledge that you have already made some subtle but quite profound changes. Almost all clients worry that this week is “too easy” but you’ll need to trust me on this one! Follow the course as I’ve planned it and the results will follow!
Occasionally I have had a client who hasn’t fully committed at the start of the course and has then tried to fit in too much towards the end. This can result in overwhelm, detox headaches, fatigue and irritability. This is not the point of Flojo’s Easy Detox and causes more damage than benefit. The No Pain No Gain meme has no place here! We want each week to be a smooth and enjoyable transition in order that you get the most lasting and effective results.
Are you feeling excited and ready to go yet? As of next week you will be:
- Starting each day with a one-minute-long breathing and visualisation exercise.
- Replacing the first caffeinated drink of the day with lemon water, green tea or herbal tea (whichever you prefer.)
- Eliminating sugar, gluten, dairy, soya and damaged fat sources from your breakfast
- Starting a dry-skin body-brushing routine.
Don’t worry about the practicalities as I will send you all the details next Saturday. For now, all you need to do is to buy in items from your shopping list, to return your emailed questionnaire and to start getting excited! I’m looking forward to working with you!
If you would like some online inspiration or would like to add your own photos of my recipes and ideas to social media please feel free to use the twitter and Instagram hashtags #flojoseasydetox – this means I get to see what you are making too! (I do ask that the actual recipes are not shared online – many thanks!)
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to do everything?
A: Absolutely not! You don’t actually have to do anything at all… It is really important to remember that what you do and how you eat is your choice, not mine. I’m not here to tell you to do anything that you don’t want to do. But you have paid me to provide you with a four week course that, if you follow it, will produce results. And that is exactly what I have done! If you would like to follow the recommendations then you will reap the benefits from them. If you choose not to follow some of the recommendations then you will experience fewer benefits. This would be a great shame, but it would be entirely your choice.
Q: What benefits will I see from Flojo’s Easy Detox course?
A: This is a tricky one! It is rare for any client to see the same set of benefits as another. It depends on where you are health-wise before you start the course, on how closely you follow the plan, and on what other external factors are going on during the next four weeks. However, you are extremely likely to notice the following:
- clearer and softer skin
- enhanced vitality
- smoother digestion
- an elimination of headaches & migraines
- deep, restful and refreshing sleep
- a happier, more positive outlook
- more energy to do the things that you want
- less joint pain
- reduced or even zero cravings for sugar and junk food
- increased ability to deal with stress
- an inner glow
- a better understanding of how to nourish yourself
- a new found enjoyment of practising some great long term habits
- a profound increase in confidence
That’s quite a lot for a four week course isn’t it?!
Q: Will I lose weight?
A: Honestly, I can’t answer this one for you, sorry! I can tell you that many people do lose weight towards the end of the course, but that Flojo’s Easy Detox is not specifically designed as a weight loss course. What is likely though, is that you will change shape as you lose some inflammation, “puffiness” and bloating. You may notice this in your face and also in a more defined waist line.
Q: I am worried about the butter and eggs on the course. Won’t these affect my cholesterol levels?
A: Most of the cholesterol in your body is actually produced by your body. Cholesterol is used by your body to manufacture hormones, to protect your cells, to ensure that your nervous system functions and to help in your digestive processes.
International food and health organisations are gradually realising the importance of a much higher dietary intake of cholesterol than was previously thought. The main cause of cholesterol overproduction is to help heal the body from the effects of inflammation, which is caused by factors such as a high carbohydrate intake, by high stress levels and by eating foods that are difficult for us to utilise. You may notice that all of these factors will be significantly reduced on this course.
Q: I am not very good at staying motivated. How will you keep me on track?
A: If you follow the course as it is laid out you will see multiple positive results. Most people find that these results help them to stay on track. I can only offer advice and encouragement. If there are any elements of the course that you are having trouble with following then let me know via email and I will try to help you troubleshoot any blockages.
Q: I am really worried about giving up treats. Does it matter if I cheat?
A: This is one of the areas where Flojo’s Easy Detox differs from a traditional weight loss or get fit plan. As you begin to replace the foods that make your body crave quick-fixes with food and lifestyle changes that both nourish and sustain, you will begin to lose any dependence on foods that cause damage to your body and mind.
By the time you reach week four you will be following a highly nutritious meal plan which will help you to look and feel great. You shouldn’t feel like eating junk because you will have reduced your reliance on it over the previous three weeks. Sadly, any “cheating” significantly reduces the benefits of the course.
I have included several ideas for snacks in week two. I suggest that you plan them all over the weekend so that you always have an alternative to any junk snacks that might cause you to go off-plan.
Q: You don’t give much information about why you recommend specific dietary or lifestyle changes. Why is that?
A: There are multiple reasons for this! The main one is that if I did I would need to write an entire book. I might yet do that, but for now I am happy to recommend books that explain certain aspects of the course if you would like to know more.
Q: What happens if I want to drop out?
A: Hopefully, you won’t need or want to! If you are unable to complete the course I am happy to offer some alternative suggestions for your long term health. Unfortunately I am not able to offer either full or partial refunds.
Q: I am going away for a few days during the final week. Does that matter?
A: Actually yes! Have you ever played the game Downfall where you have to decide which of the four dials to turn on each go in order to smoothly release your discs in numerical order? Flojo’s Easy Detox course is a bit like that except that I have worked out the most efficient way for you to release your discs in advance!
Eating off-plan foods, having a late night, not doing your visualisation or affirmation exercises etc.? These are the equivalent of your opponent player causing your discs to overload the dials, jamming the game altogether. Apologies for the clumsy metaphor but you should get the idea! Your body will be working hard by week four and you want to be encouraging a smooth outward flow of toxicity rather than causing your body further stress to deal with.
Q: What happens after the course?
A: That is entirely up to you! You may want to continue to follow the plan for the near future or you may feel like returning to business-as-usual. I am happy to recommend a book list if you would like to explore some of the changes you made in this course. Alternatively, if you have chronic health conditions that you would like to work on you might like to sign up with me for personalised health and nutrition coaching.
Q: That was a lot to read! What do I need to do again?
A: Right now all you need to do is to:
- Return your questionnaire to me
- Have a look at your shopping list
- Get excited…
