A cacao elixir is a lovely and super healthy way to start the day or to sip on during a cold afternoon, and it can easily be adapted to whatever ingredients you have at home.
Simply whisk half a can of full-fat coconut milk in a saucepan over a low heat together with a tablespoon of cacao. Add stevia, erythritol, xylitol, honey or maple syrup to sweeten. You can then experiment with flavoursome and beneficial spice or herb combinations and/or add highly beneficial fats. I sometimes add a splash of strong black coffee or chaga tea too.
Spices: vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, chilli, turmeric, cardamom, dried lavender or rose petals
Adaptogenic herbs: reishi, maca, ashwaghandha
Fats: butter, coconut oil, MCT oil, any smooth nut butter, tahini
Other optional goodies: lucuma powder, collagen hydrolysate powder
